How to make a meme
- Drop an image, or click to browse. Any JPG, PNG or WebP works: a template, a screenshot or your own photo.
- Type your top and bottom text. White letters with a black outline are drawn as you type, and long lines wrap automatically.
- Adjust Text size if needed, then click Download meme. The file is saved as a PNG named
meme-plus the original file name, with no watermark.
What the tool does and does not do
- Text is placed in two fixed spots: centered at the top and centered at the bottom. You cannot drag it elsewhere, so pick images with calm areas at the top and bottom.
- The font is the classic meme style (Impact where available, with similar bold fallbacks). The color is white with a black outline; there are no color or font controls.
- Text size runs from 4% to 16% of the image width (default 9%), so a large photo and a small one get proportionally similar lettering.
- The Uppercase box is on by default. Untick it to keep your own capitalization.
- The meme is exported at the image's full original resolution, as PNG. Very large photos will make large files; shrink them first with the image resizer if you plan to post to a chat or forum with size limits.
Writing text that works
The outline makes text readable on almost any picture, but the picture still decides whether the joke lands. Short beats long: a top line that sets up a situation and a bottom line that delivers the punch is the format for a reason, and each line should read in about two seconds. Once a line wraps to three or four rows it starts covering the faces and objects that make the image funny. If the wrapped text goes over the main subject, lower the size slider, cut words, or choose a different crop.
Other practical points: check contrast on very bright or very busy images such as white snow, patterned fabric or text screenshots, where even an outlined white font can get lost. Keep the top line from touching the edges; the tool leaves a margin, but long words with no spaces cannot be broken and may run off the side. Proofread before downloading, because there is no undo once the file is saved, and reposting an edited version means starting over.

Using other people's images
Memes are often made from film stills, stock photos and photos of real people. A caption does not change who owns the image, and a picture of a private person may raise privacy concerns. Why is the text uppercase?
All caps is the classic meme look and is easy to read at small sizes, so Uppercase is on by default. Untick the box to use the capitalization you typed.
Is there a watermark?
No watermark at all. The downloaded meme is exactly what you see in the preview.
Can I use any image?
