How to remove line breaks from text
- Paste your text into the top box — it is cleaned instantly as you type.
- Pick a mode: replace breaks with spaces (default), join everything into one paragraph, or keep paragraphs and only remove the extra breaks.
- Click Copy result and paste the clean text wherever you need it.
Why does pasted text have broken lines?
Text copied from a PDF, an old email, an e-book or a scanned document usually arrives with a hard line break at the end of every visual line. Those breaks were only there to fit the original page width — but once you paste the text into Word, Google Docs, a CMS or a chat window, every line ends mid-sentence and the paragraph looks chopped up. Deleting hundreds of breaks by hand is tedious and error-prone.
This tool fixes it in one step. It scans the text for line-break characters (including the different styles used by Windows, Mac and Linux) and rejoins the lines so sentences flow naturally again. Your words, punctuation and spelling are never touched — only the invisible whitespace between them changes.
Which mode should I use?
Replace line breaks with spaces is the safe default: every break becomes a single space, so words that were split across lines stay separated. Remove all line breaks deletes the breaks outright and glues the lines together — useful for data like URLs, keys or codes that were wrapped across lines and must not contain spaces. Remove extra blank lines only is the smart option for articles and documents: it joins the broken lines inside each paragraph but keeps one blank line between paragraphs, so the structure of the text survives. Tick Also collapse multiple spaces to squeeze any run of repeated spaces down to a single space at the same time.
Is it private and safe?
Yes. Toolyard processes your text inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server, so confidential documents, contracts and drafts stay completely private — and the tool keeps working even offline once the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the three modes?
Replace with spaces turns every break into a space so words stay separated. Remove all deletes every break and joins everything into one block. Keep paragraphs removes the breaks inside paragraphs but preserves the blank lines between them.
Does it change my words?
No — only whitespace is changed: line breaks and, if you enable the option, repeated spaces. Every letter, number and punctuation mark stays exactly as you pasted it.
Is there a maximum text length?
No fixed limit. The tool runs locally in your browser, so even very long documents are processed instantly on your device.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Nothing leaves your browser — the text is processed on your device and never sent to a server.
Can I undo or get the original back?
Yes. The original always stays untouched in the top box; the cleaned version appears in the result box, so you can switch modes or start over at any time.
